Privacy Policy
What we hold
These are the kinds of information JobOnIt stores about you.
- Account
- Your email address, whether you use JobOnIt as a worker or an employer, and when the account was created and last used. There is no password: you sign in with a one-time link sent to your email.
- Profile
- Worker: display name, optional photo, preferred language, the kinds of work you will do, and your search radius. Employer: display or business name, whether you are a business or a private individual, optional logo, contact person, website, and service area.
- Contact
- Phone number, WhatsApp number, and which of these you prefer to be reached on. All optional.
- Location
- Worker: your Florida city, ZIP, and a home point you can place on a map. Employer: the job's city, ZIP, meeting point, and an approximate work area shown on the job. See Location — this is the part with the most important rules.
- Jobs and applications
- Job posts, who applied, who was approved or declined, availability you set, scheduled and actual hours, cancellations, and no-shows.
- Reviews
- The ratings and comments you and the other side leave after a completed job.
- Reports and cases
- Reports about safety, conduct, payment, or hours, together with what you wrote and how our team resolved it.
- Technical
- A session cookie that keeps you signed in, ordinary server records of requests, and Google Analytics measurements such as page views and browser information. Where we log a security event we store a one-way hash of the IP address rather than the address itself. See the Cookie Policy.
We do not ask for and do not want government ID numbers, bank or card details, immigration status, health information, or any of the special categories of personal data. Please do not put them into a job description, a message, or a report.
Why we use it
- To run the marketplace — show relevant jobs, let you apply, let an employer approve you, and keep the record of hours, cancellations, and reviews that both sides rely on.
- To match by distance — your home point and radius decide which jobs are near you. This is why the point is stored precisely.
- To let people reach each other — but only once an approval has happened (see below).
- To keep people safe and honest — investigate reports, resolve hours disputes, and act on accounts that break the rules.
- To send necessary messages — sign-in links and notices about your own jobs and applications. We do not send marketing email.
- To protect the service — prevent abuse, and keep security records.
Location: what others can see
Your exact home point is never shown to an employer. Employers see only how far away you are from their job, calculated from it.
A worker's home point is private. It appears on your own profile page and nowhere else: not on a job roster, not in a favorites list, not on any map an employer sees, not in a search result. What an employer sees is a distance — "3 miles away" — derived from the point, never the point itself.
Job locations work the other way round, and in two stages. Before a worker is approved, a job shows an approximate work area: a deliberately imprecise circle so a worker can judge whether the job is reachable without the exact address being public. The exact meeting point is revealed only to a worker the employer has approved for that job.
Neither side's precise location is published, sold, or shared with anyone else, and we do not track your device location. Everything above comes from what you enter or place on a map yourself.
When contact details appear
Phone numbers, WhatsApp numbers, and email addresses are not on public profiles or job cards. They become visible to the other party when the employer approves the worker for a job, and to that party only — approval on one job does not reveal your details on another.
Once a worker is approved, the employer can see their contact details, and the worker can see the employer's contact details and the exact meeting point. That is the point of approval: two people who now need to reach each other about real work.
Reports and safety
What you write in a report goes to our team. It is not published, it is not shown on anyone's profile, and it is not sent to the person you reported. They may be told that an issue was raised and what was decided, without your description.
Reports are kept even after they are resolved, because a pattern across time is often the only way to see a real problem.
How long we keep it
Account and profile information is kept while your account exists. Records that belong to both sides — jobs, applications, confirmed hours, reviews, reports — are kept after an account closes, because deleting them would erase the other person's history too. Uploaded images are deleted when they are replaced or no longer referenced.
Security
We take security seriously in the ordinary technical ways: passwordless sign-in, session cookies restricted to this site, protection against cross-site request forgery on every action that changes data, a strict content security policy, uploaded images re-encoded and stored outside the web root, and security-relevant logging that stores a hashed IP rather than the address.
No online service can promise perfect security, and we will not pretend otherwise. If a breach affects you, we will tell you.
Your choices
- See and correct — your profile page shows what we hold about you and lets you change it.
- Leave fields empty — phone, WhatsApp, photo, website, and preferred contact are all optional.
- Ask for a copy, or ask us to delete — write to us from your account email address. Shared job, hours, review, and report records may be kept as described above; we will tell you what is kept and why.
- Sign out — this clears the session cookie on your device.
Depending on where you live you may have additional legal rights over your data. We will honour valid requests; the exact procedure will be set out here once the policy has had its legal review.
