What JobOnIt is
JobOnIt is a marketplace. Employers post short-term local jobs, workers apply, and the employer decides who to approve. We provide the place where that happens and the tools around it — job listings, applications, schedules, hours records, reviews, and a way to report a problem.
We are not a staffing agency, an employer of record, a payroll provider, or a worker's employer. We do not employ the workers who use JobOnIt, we do not supervise the work, and we are not a party to the working arrangement between an employer and a worker. That arrangement is between the two of them.
We do not screen, interview, background-check, or verify the skills of workers or employers. Ratings and reviews on JobOnIt come from other users, not from us.
Your account
You sign in with your email address. We send a one-time sign-in link instead of using a password, so keeping access to your email inbox is what keeps your account secure. Do not share sign-in links.
You are responsible for what happens under your account and for keeping the information in it accurate — particularly your contact details, since another person may rely on them to reach you about real work on a real day.
One account belongs to one person or one business. Do not create an account for someone else, impersonate anyone, or use JobOnIt if you are under 18.
Posting a job
If you post a job, you agree that:
- the job is real and you intend to have the work done;
- the description, dates, hours, pay rate, and location are accurate;
- you are allowed to hire for it and the work itself is lawful;
- the pay you state is what you will actually pay for the hours worked;
- you will not use the listing to advertise something other than the job.
Job posts are visible to workers, so do not put anything in one you are not willing to make public. Exact meeting-point details and your contact information are shown only to a worker you have approved.
Applying and approval
A worker applying to a job is expressing interest. It is not a booking. The employer approves or declines, and only an approved worker holds a confirmed spot.
Contact details are exchanged at approval, not before — the worker sees the employer's contact information and meeting point once they are approved, and the employer sees the worker's.
A worker cannot hold two confirmed jobs whose times overlap. We enforce this when applying and again when an employer approves, so an approval may be refused if it would double-book someone.
Cancellations, no-shows and hours
Plans change, and JobOnIt records what happened rather than deciding who was right. Cancelling close to the start of a shift asks for a short reason, because the other side has little time to react. Once a shift has started it can no longer be cancelled through the app.
If a worker does not arrive, the employer can record a no-show. If that was a mistake, it can be undone while the job is still upcoming; once the job has ended, the employer can ask our team to correct the record instead, and the correction is reviewed before anything changes.
Hours are confirmed by both sides: one side enters the hours worked and the other confirms them. If you disagree, either of you can dispute the hours within seven days of the job ending, and our team reviews the two figures. What we resolve is the record of hours on JobOnIt. Paying for those hours remains the employer's obligation, and we do not move money between you.
Worker pay
JobOnIt does not pay workers and does not process worker wages. The employer pays the worker directly, by whatever method the two of them agree on. We do not hold, transfer, escrow, guarantee, or insure that money, and we are not a payment processor for it.
If you are not paid for work you did, JobOnIt is not the party that owes you the money — the employer is. You can still report it to us: we record it, it can affect an employer's standing on JobOnIt, and we can act on the account. That is a platform action, not a payment remedy, and it does not replace your legal rights.
Our fee
Workers do not pay to use JobOnIt, and workers are never charged to find or apply for work.
Employers pay a platform fee counted in posted work hours: the number of workers a job asks for, multiplied by the full schedule that job advertises for one worker. It is fixed when the job is published and does not change afterwards — it is not recalculated from how many applicants are approved, or from the hours actually worked. The fee is shown on the employer's own pages, in US dollars. It is a fee for using JobOnIt and is separate from worker pay: nothing is deducted from what a worker earns.
The launch period is running, and during it the entire platform is free to use. We have not fixed how long it lasts, and we will announce the end at least 30 days in advance. An employer who successfully publishes at least one job while the launch period is running earns a Lifetime Free Membership: JobOnIt remains free of platform fees for that employer account permanently, including features added later. Creating an account alone does not earn it. Employers without a Lifetime Free Membership pay US$1.00 per posted work hour once the launch period ends.
There is no online payment system in JobOnIt today. We do not accept card payments, we have no checkout, and we do not store card details. Where a fee applies, billing is arranged directly with the employer. When online payment is added, we will say so clearly before it starts.
Acceptable use
Do not use JobOnIt to:
- post work that is unlawful, unsafe, or that you have no right to offer;
- discriminate, harass, threaten, or abuse anyone;
- misrepresent who you are, what the job is, or what it pays;
- post someone else's personal information;
- advertise, recruit for schemes, or send unsolicited marketing;
- scrape, probe, overload, or attempt to break into the service;
- get around a suspension or a limit we have applied.
Moderation and suspension
We can remove content and limit, suspend, or close an account that breaks these terms or puts other users at risk. Where it is reasonable to do so we will explain why, and you can reply. Serious safety issues may be acted on immediately.
Records of jobs, hours, reviews, and reports are not deleted when an account is closed, because the other party's history depends on them.
Reviews and reports
After a completed job both sides can review each other. Reviews should be about the work that actually took place. We do not sell, boost, or remove reviews as a favour, and an employer cannot buy a rating or a badge.
Reports about safety, conduct, or payment go to our team, not to the person you are reporting. See the Privacy Policy for what happens to that information.
Limits of our responsibility
JobOnIt is provided as it is. We work to keep it accurate and available, but we do not promise that a listing is genuine, that a person is who they say they are, that a job will go ahead, or that the service will be uninterrupted or error-free.
Because we are not a party to the work itself, we are not responsible for the work, the conduct of either side, the conditions on site, injuries, damage, or unpaid wages. Deciding who to work with, and who to hire, is your decision.
Nothing here is intended to exclude any responsibility that the law does not allow us to exclude.
Changes and contact
We will update these terms as JobOnIt changes, and the date at the top will move when the wording does. If a change materially affects you, we will make it visible rather than quietly replacing the page.
Questions about these terms can be sent from the address on your account. Employers should also read Employer Responsibilities, which sets out the obligations that come with hiring someone.
